The Thylacine is an extinct animal most closely related to marsupial animals like kangaroos and wombats. They lived across Australia and New Guinea. Scientists think that it was a combination of disease, habitat destruction and hunting that led to their extinction. By 1930 they were extinct in the wild and the last known Thylacine died in captivity in Hobart Zoo in September 1936.
